Jesus promises: “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Easy & light. I’m sure we all like the sound of that! Even at the surface, this sounds like good stuff, but let’s take a few minutes and go deeper…
What is it about Jesus’s yoke that makes it easy? It’s easy because we don’t have to do anything – Jesus is the One who is doing the work! Jesus is the one carrying the load!
Jesus is the One who came to die for you and for me. His death was for the purpose of restoring the relationship between God and His people (us). The work has already been done. Let’s rest and spend a few minutes thanking Jesus.
Thank You, Jesus, for giving up Your life for us so that we can relax into and enjoy the relationship of our loving Father. Thank You for making a way for us. Forgive us for overcomplicating things and trying to outdo the sacrifice You made for us. Help us to slow down and appreciate all that You have done and all that is. In Your precious name, Amen
