Read Genesis 1:28 NIV

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

First came the blessing, then came the instruction. The Lord speaks to the man and woman (Adam & Eve) He created in His image. God goes on to inform them that He also provided food for all to eat and enjoy. He is pleased with all that He has done.

God’s request is for the man and woman to enjoy all that He has made. He entrusts them with all that He has created and encourages them to expand His creation with other human beings. God gives them the power to rule over the creatures of the world. 

Being blessed is a gift. It is a gift that comes with a responsibility – and that responsibility is to be obedient. As we continue to be obedient, we continue to receive God’s blessings, for God loves to bless those who obey Him (Exodus 20:6). Scripture tells us that “every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows (James 1:17).  Enjoy your good and perfect gift from Your Father who loves you! Be obedient & be blessed!

Dear Heavenly Father,

We give thanks for Your many blessings. We desire to show our appreciation to You and all that You are by obeying Your Word. We will seek Your Word for Truth and direction today and everyday. Thank you in advance for the rewards we will see because of Your love for us and our desire to serve You! In Jesus Name, Amen.
