Thank you for joining us as we have worked our way through the book of Revelation. As Pastor David continues to help us unpack the rest of the book, we are going to turn our attention in our daily devotions to the different themes found in John’s writing. For the next four weeks, we’ll dive into themes in the book of Revelation and explore how they align with the rest of Scripture.
This week we will explore the themes of God’s sovereignty and the triumph of Christ.
Day 5
Read: Philippians 2:9-11 (The Name Above Every Name)
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Jesus is the Son of Man. That is a powerful position, wouldn’t you say? These verses tell us that His name …His very name is worthy of being exalted to the highest place above absolutely every other name. His name…the name of Jesus…..is worthy of every ounce of our praise! If I am honest with myself, I focus my praise on many other things throughout my day, and I am often not giving His name the praise and glory that He deserves. His name is “above every name,” and “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth….”!
Reflection: What does it mean practically to bow your knee and submit your daily decisions to the name of Jesus?
