Read: ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭20‬:‭27‬-‭30‬

Then, led by Jehoshaphat, all the men of Judah and Jerusalem returned joyfully to Jerusalem, for the Lord had given them cause to rejoice over their enemies. They entered Jerusalem and went to the temple of the Lord with harps and lyres and trumpets. The fear of God came on all the surrounding kingdoms when they heard how the Lord had fought against the enemies of Israel. And the kingdom of Jehoshaphat was at peace, for his God had given him rest on every side.

The story of Jehoshaphat teaches us the significance of seeking God’s guidance, trusting in His power and presence in our lives, and acting in accordance with His principles. His experiences teach us that when faced with challenges, turning to God in prayer and seeking His counsel leads to divine guidance and intervention. His trust in God’s promises, exemplified by his response to impending threats and battles, demonstrates the power of faith in overcoming adversity.

Additionally, Jehoshaphat’s humility and openness to correction, as seen in his interactions with godly advisers, highlight the importance of surrounding oneself with wise counsel and heeding godly guidance. His mistake in forming alliances with ungodly rulers also underlines the caution needed in picking friends and associations that align with our faith and values.

Jehoshaphat’s life exemplifies the value of seeking God’s wisdom, cultivating trust in His plan, and embracing humility and accountability. These lessons inspire us to lead with faith, make righteous choices, and build a strong foundation of dependence on the Lord.

What can you take from the life of Jehoshaphat and apply to your walk with the Lord?

Pray: “Lord Jesus, open my eyes to the relationships around me, and to Your presence in, and plan for, my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
