Thank you for joining us as we have worked our way through the book of Revelation. As Pastor David continues to help us unpack the rest of the book, we are going to turn our attention in our daily devotions to the different themes found in John’s writing. For the next week, we’ll dive into themes in the book of Revelation and explore how they align with the rest of Scripture.
This week’s theme: The New Creation
Looking forward to the renewal of all things and dwelling eternally in God’s presence.
Day 7: The Throne and the Tree
Read Revelation 22:1-5
1Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.
I love how the beginning of God’s story with us starts in a garden – filled with trees and His provision – and ends there too. What beautiful bookends, bringing everything full circle. The serpent that made his way into the scene in the beginning is defeated and along with him our sin. Once again God’s creation is as He intended and we are with our God. Forever and ever – Amen!
Let all that sink in today and allow you to rejoice in God’s plan. We may not be able to see or understand all the details of that plan, but we can be certain of the outcome. The King is coming for His Bride and all will be made right. Are you ready?
Reflection: The curse of sin is finally completely removed in these verses. How does this complete the journey started in Genesis?
