Read: 2 Chronicles 20:18-19

Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the Lord. Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.

Jehoshaphat’s act of bowing down and leading the people in worship amid incredible danger is a display of humility that underscores the importance of acknowledging our vulnerability and dependence on God during adversity. Trusting God’s promise to be with us, as Jehoshaphat did, reminds us that faith can make fear vanish even in the worst of times.

Jehoshaphat’s choice here demonstrates the power of gratitude to, and worship of, the Lord.  Despite their frightening situation, the act of praising God’s holiness shifted their focus from the problem to the Lord.

Jehoshaphat’s actions here show his humble heart, unshakable faith, and a belief that worshiping God can help navigate life’s most difficult problems.

Pray: “Lord Jesus, open my eyes to the relationships around me, and to Your presence in, and plan for, my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
