Thank you for joining us as we have worked our way through the book of Revelation. As Pastor David continues to help us unpack the rest of the book, we are going to turn our attention in our daily devotions to the different themes found in John’s writing. For the next few weeks, we’ll dive into themes in the book of Revelation and explore how they align with the rest of Scripture.
Day 3: Let Justice Roll Down
Read Amos 5:24
But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!
These words were spoken by the prophet Amos to a society that held religious festivals but ignored the poor, cheated in business affairs, and oppressed vulnerable people.
These words were also uttered by Rev. Martin Luther King Jr in his famous “I have a dream…” speech, demanding civil rights for ALL people. Rev. King opens and closes with Amos 5:24. His closing emphasis warns that unless America makes justice and righteousness a reality, it will be destroyed.
Both men reflect God’s demand for true moral action and fairness! Empty religious rituals mean nothing to our Creator.
