Read Galatians 5:22-25 NIV

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.  Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.  Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

The evidence of the Holy Spirit’s presence shows up in the way we live our lives. As the Holy Spirit works in us, He produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control – all characteristics of Jesus.

No matter what decisions we make in a day – we can’t go wrong if we exhibit peace, patience, goodness, love…all those fruits of the spirit. So, a good question to ask ourselves when we are faced with choices or direction for our lives is, “Will it make me more like Jesus?” Will moving in that particular direction produce more of the fruit of the Spirit in me? Am I moving at the pace of Jesus in my decisions?

Take the time today to ask yourself those questions.

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for reminding me that You are always with me through the power of the Holy Spirit.  Thank you for reminding me that I need to learn to seek, listen, and hear Your voice.  To move at Your pace. Help me to not return to my old ways but rather to apply what I have learned about You and seek to deepen my understanding of You through a growing relationship with You!  Help me to focus on developing the fruits of Your Spirit in my own life.   I desire to set these fruits as standards for my life, and I desperately need Your help!  Help me to accept Your will for my life, to listen for Your voice, and to follow Your leading!  Amen
