Read Psalm 68:4-6 NIV

     Sing to God, sing in praise of his name,

    extol him who rides on the clouds;

    rejoice before him—his name is the Lord.

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,

    is God in his holy dwelling.

God sets the lonely in families,

    he leads out the prisoners with singing;

 but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.

The words of this Psalm bring me great joy! It reminds me that God loves and cares  for those whose needs often get overlooked. He doesn’t just tell us to suck it up or move on, He works to sit with us in our sorrow and grief and fill the spaces that no other human can fill. He takes the dry and barren places in our lives and brings new life in ways we can’t even imagine, offering love and hope to hurting and weary people. What good news that is! We have all been through times when we have felt abandoned, alone, grievous, or held captive. We have all felt overlooked. So these verses are for all of us. A reminder of God’s love and faithfulness to us all. What a reason to celebrate!

Take some time today and recall the times when God met you in the dark places of your life. Thank Him for His love and care and celebrate how He continues to walk with you today.
