Read 1 Peter 4:10

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

Picture a basketball team where the guy who hands out the towels to all the players has a 3-point shot that can’t miss.  Yet he doesn’t play ball…he hands out the towels.  You would probably think, ‘What a waste!’  All that talent and it doesn’t get used.  A misuse of talent on a basketball team is easy to spot – but how about in life?

Many of us stay on the fringe of what God is doing.  We might even serve, but we aren’t really using the gifts that God has given us to the fullest.  Today’s verse is a reminder that we are accountable to use what God has given us to the best of our abilities…whatever it is!  Your gift might be “handing out towels”…then hand out towels with a smile.  Your gift might be shooting 3 pointers.  If it is, then shoot 3 pointers every chance you get!  Whatever your gift is, use it…and use it well.  Don’t stand on the fringe any longer.  Do whatever it takes to get in on what God is doing.
