Read Mark 10:45
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Have you ever heard the phrase, “Do as I say, not as I do”? It is sometimes used by parents when they expect their children to do something they aren’t completely willing to do themselves. Jesus, however, was the real deal! He doesn’t expect anything of us that He hasn’t already done.
God calls each of us to serve and gave us the perfect example in His Son. Everything Jesus did while on the earth was to serve you and me. His arrival and His death were both acts of serving us, making it possible for us to be reconciled with God. Jesus’ example of what a true servant looks like came with great sacrifice and love. We are never more like Jesus than when we serve others. Today, thank God for sending His Son to serve you and meet your needs. Ask Him to continue to grow a servant’s heart within you.
