Read Mark 10:51 NIV
“What do you want me to do for you?”Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”
Picture a blind man yelling wildly across a crowded street in the hope of catching Jesus’ attention. That was Bartimaeus. He caught the attention of the crowd, who quickly tried to silence him. But, Jesus heard him too! At first it may seem silly that Jesus would ask Bartimaeus what he wanted. I mean – wasn’t it obvious? Of course, Jesus knew what Bartimaeus wanted! But He gave him the chance to ask publicly. Jesus gave Bartimaeus the chance to publicly announce his faith.
It’s not a huge challenge to announce our faith on Sunday morning, among others who believe in Jesus. How many of us, however, have the boldness to announce our faith in other arenas of our life?
Bartimaeus was bold! He yelled until he was noticed despite the opinion of the crowd, and his faith was rewarded. God changed his life forever and He used his faith to grow the faith of others.
Do you need a shot of boldness today? Ask God to give you the boldness of Bartimaeus to announce your faith publicly in all areas of your life. Seek Him for the confidence to boldly exemplify the life-changing power of faith.
