Read: Psalm 33:4-7 NRSV

For the word of the Lord is upright,
    and all his work is done in faithfulness.

He loves righteousness and justice;
    the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
    and all their host by the breath of his mouth.

He gathered the waters of the sea as in a bottle;
    he put the deeps in storehouses.

Before sin entered the world, God looked at His creation and called it “very good.” But much like the Israelites who sat by the waters of Babylon, weeping for a home that was lost to fire and ruin, we often look around at a broken world and feel a deep sense of exile. We know things are not as they should be.
However, the “goodness of God” means He did not abandon the project when it broke. Just as He promised the exiles in Babylon that He would bring them home, His goodness is a commitment to restore His original design. Your longing for a better world isn’t just wishful thinking; it is a homing beacon. God’s intention has always been to bring us back—not just to a garden, but to Himself.

Pray: Lord, thank You that Your original design for me and this world is goodness. When I feel the pain of this broken world, remind me that I am not an accident, and that Your plan is to restore, not destroy.
