Read Luke 6:38 NIV
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
It often seems countercultural to live generously in our world. There is a pervasive fear that we just might not have enough, so we are hesitant to give anything to anyone else…after all, what if we need it?! That is the kind of economic thought that produces runs on milk and bread just before a storm or cases of toilet paper that might just be left from the pandemic. It is the thought process that proclaims – “I have what I have because I have provided it.” But God’s economy looks a little different. His economy proclaims – “You have what you have because God has provided it.” There are no shortages in His economy and He expects that we will live generously because of His generous example. When we live generously in His name, we receive so much more from Him than we could ever give away.
