“But since you excel in everything – in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in love we have kindled in you – see that you also excel in this grace of giving.” 2 Corinthians 8:7
When we were young parents, friends of ours in the church told us about a tradition their family had of going round the Thanksgiving table, with each person saying what they were thankful for.
We adopted the tradition and, as our kids grew into adulthood, it had become an increasingly reflective and emotional time to talk about what God is doing in our lives. I can say that together we have learned to really contemplate and value God’s blessings.
As we recount all the many blessings God has provided, we can’t help but to want others in our orbit to have the same thing. Of course I’m not necessarily talking about “thing” things – I’m talking about the confidence and knowledge that God loves us and is present in our lives.

“God, thank You for Your provision for us. As we reflect on the many blessings You have provided in our lives, light in us a fire to bless those around us that they may do the same. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
