Read: Proverbs 4:25-27 NRSV

Let your eyes look directly forwards,

    and your gaze be straight before you.

Keep straight the path of your feet,

    and all your ways will be sure.

Do not swerve to the right or to the left;

    turn your foot away from evil.

These verses remind me of the importance of having a clear vision and direction for my life.

If I don’t know where I’m going, I can easily get distracted by the temptations and troubles of this world. I can wander off the path of righteousness and end up in places I don’t want to be.

But if I keep my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith, He will guide me and show me the way. He will help me to avoid the pitfalls and snares of the enemy. He will keep me on the path of truth and life.

I want to live with purpose and intentionality. I want to follow God’s plan and will for my life. I want to honor Him with every step I take. That’s why I need to look straight ahead and fix my gaze on Him. He is the only one who can lead me to the best destination.

Pray: Lord, thank You for being my vision and my direction. Help me to keep my eyes on You and not on the things of this world. Help me to give careful thought to the paths for my feet and be steadfast in all my ways. Help me to not turn to the right or to the left, but to keep my foot from evil. In Jesus’ name, amen.
