Daily Devotionals

Have you ever had something happen that was so wonderful that you wanted to let the whole world know? I remember my mom telling the story of my birth and how excited she was. I was born in the early 70’s, and technology was so limited that she never had a glimpse of what I may look like before I was born. I’m not even sure if she got to hear my heartbeat. For the whole 10 months she carried me, she wondered whether I was a boy or a girl and worried about me being born healthy, with all 10 fingers and 10 toes. She had no idea what the color of my hair might be, nor the color of my eyes, shape of my nose, mouth, or ears. There were so many questions!

All these things were answered after 10 months and many hours of contractions with hard labor. The baby she had been carrying so close to her own heart finally arrived as a 9 and a half pound “precious” baby girl. I was healthy and had all 10 fingers and 10 toes. As my mom was wheeled out of the delivery room, she shouted my name, announcing my arrival like I was already someone famous, just minutes after I had come into this world. New life is such a gift that blesses families, friends, and even strangers in the grocery store! It is news that travels far and wide (especially now through social media). It is news that is meant to be shared.

New life is given to us through accepting Christ as our Lord and Savior. When we accept Christ, we also receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, who takes up residency in our hearts. The Holy Spirit serves as a guide and a helper, reminding us of who we are and who God is! This is exciting and this news is meant to be shared! Jesus loves you, and He wants the world to know it! And the best news is that God loves everyone!!

How will you share the Good News today?

Read Matthew 28:18-20

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Daily prayer:

Dear God, I am so thankful to hear the Great News about Jesus. Lord, I pray that today You show me someone who needs to hear about Jesus. Help me to allow the Holy Spirit to speak through me so that I may share this Good News! Amen
