Read James 1:19-20

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.

Open-handed service in the restaurant business is a technique that involves placing items on the dining table without reaching across guests. It is said to improve guests’ experience, reduce spills, contribute to table turnover and improve communication between servers and kitchen staff.

When practicing this method, servers always use their right arm to serve guests on their right side and left arm to serve on their left side, this allows elbows to always point away from guests and allows servers to maintain respectful distances.

Living open-handed requires respect and a certain degree of humbleness. Like all good servants, we must be quick to listen and slow to speak. In doing so, we keep our minds and our hands open to what the Lord calls for us to do.

Lord, help us to be quick to listen and slow to speak and slow to become angry. We know that human anger does not produce the righteousness You desire. We want to listen and obey, so that we serve You well in all that we do. Lord help us to live an open-handed life. In Jesus Name, Amen
