This psalm, written by David, talks about the joy that comes through forgiveness. David spells out the process of working through the guilt and shame of sin and the Lord’s loving response and blessings that we receive when we trust in Him.
I remember several years ago being caught up in sin. I had taken a trip. A very self centered vacation. I had no other concerns but to fulfill my own selfish desires. Once the vacation was over and I admitted my wrongs, I was filled with guilt and shame. I remember recalling all the details. I saw every opportunity the Lord provided for me to turn away from sin and do the right things. I had deliberately ignored them all. I wept.
The Lord met me in my mess and invited me on a walk with Him. As I poured out my heart, the Lord alerted me to all the sticks on the ground. He invited me to look closer and I saw cross after cross after cross. The Lord made it known to me that I am forgiven and I have been set free from sin. The Lord does not want us to remain in bondage. He wants us to experience the joy of forgiveness and He is willing to walk through the process with us so He can bless us. Please accept this gift. It truly is a great blessing when people are forgiven for the wrongs they have done, when their sins are erased!!
My prayer for you today is to rejoice and be happy in the Lord, all of you who want to do right,
REJOICE!!
