Correspondent: Up to date Day 2 from Israel:
We learned yesterday that Jesus said “you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.”
Yet in the book of Matthew Jesus is quoted as saying, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Matthew 22:36-39 (NLT)
Did you notice that Matthew leaves out ‘strength’? Yes. Yes. He does.
Searching high and low, there seems to be no good answer for the elimination of this one word, but it leads us to another question: Where does our strength come from? Let’s ask David, after all he IS a man after God’s own heart:
DAVID: “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him.” (Psalm 28:7)
Correspondent: David reminds us that the Lord is our strength, the ultimate power source. We need Him to help live out His commandments and follow Him completely. We cannot do this on our own, folks!
Well, this is the good news for today: The Lord is our strength.
David trusts Him. He helps David over and over again. And He can help you, too!! Go spread the Word…
