We continue with our devotional series “A Few of Our Favorite Things” where you’ll hear from some of our pastors and volunteers as they share how God’s Word has impacted them.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Psalms 91:2 has been one of my favorite verses because it reminds me that, no matter what my circumstances are, everything is okay. I am sheltered and protected by my Heavenly Father. I do not need to be afraid or overwhelmed by any struggle because I trust in Him. It’s been a go-to in my mind many times when I was facing something tough. It has been great at just reminding me of the Rock I stand on.
Psalms 51:10 is a reminder to me to turn my mind and heart back to the Lord whenever I feel the struggle of daily life. It is a verse I try to keep in front of me – I have even posted it in my cubicle at work. It becomes my plea to the Holy Spirit to steady my path when I know I have either come up short or need to refocus my spiritual life in the way Christ has called me.
Both of these verses have brought God’s enduring strength into my life and provided me anchors during my storms.
