We continue with our devotional series  “A Few of Our Favorite Things” where you’ll hear from some of our pastors and volunteers as they share how God’s Word has impacted them.

Read Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Knowing that I don’t have to do anything to receive salvation except to have faith in Jesus, that my salvation is a work of grace done in advance just for me, is a huge relief to me. It helps me to stay focused on what God asks of me, rather than trying to find new ways to measure up or make Him think favorably about me. Verse 10 reminds me that  I’m already His “masterpiece,” regardless of my past. He calls me His own. I am God’s perfect creation! God has “good things” planned for me as I walk with Him in this life. I just need to turn to Him and obey His direction and will for my life.
