Daily Devotionals

God’s Word speaks to each of us in different ways. Through particular verses God provides the impetus to change our direction in life for the long term, and sometimes God gives us just the right verses to impact specific seasons in our lives. Over the next few weeks, we thought we would share with you a few of our favorite verses. In a devotional series we’re calling A Few of Our Favorite Things, you’ll hear from some of our pastors and volunteers as they share how God’s Word has impacted them.

Read Ephesians 6:12 NLT

For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Too often I find myself irritated or frustrated with someone, it could be anyone actually… It might be a friend, a family member, or even just someone in public.  As I have grown in my faith I recognized that when I remember this verse I’m more able to step back and can remove myself from the situation a little.  Paul wrote these words to the early church in Ephesus, and his words are still true and applicable to me. There is often much more going on than what I can see with my eyes. When I take that perspective I am able to see and love others a little more like Jesus.
