Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.
Lord,
I confess that I don’t always trust you with everything. I tend to try to figure things out on my own until I can’t move any further… and then I look to you. Some of that comes out of pride. I think I can handle whatever comes my way, but that just isn’t the truth. I ask that you would help me to set my pride aside, acknowledging that the plans you have for me are better than any I could ever come up with or reason my way through.
Sometimes it is fear that gets in my way. I would like to say that I always want to hear your voice. But sometimes I am afraid of what you might say. I’m afraid you’ll tell me that you have different plans for me. I’m afraid you’re going to tell me no. I’m afraid you’ll want me to adjust my thinking or my attitude – and frankly, a lot of the time I just don’t want to. I ask that you replace my fear with trust. Help me to trust in Your love and care for me so that I can be certain that even when I am afraid of where you will lead, that it is what is best for me.
Soften my heart and open my ears to listen for your voice. Amen.
