For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.
Here it is: I don’t like to admit it, but I mess up. All the time. In my heart I want to live like Jesus, but at times I struggle to submit every area of my life. I take over and well…mess things up. Today’s verse reminds us that we all fit into the same category of falling a bit short because of sin. But it also is a hope-filled reminder that because of God’s love we aren’t stuck there. We are free through the grace, and love, and sacrifice of Jesus!
I really like the idea of living in the freedom of God’s forgiveness and love. But sometimes I am not so quick to offer that same freedom to others. I hold onto perceived offenses and I stew on them. Ironically, when I don’t offer that same freedom to others I fail to give myself the opportunity to REALLY live in God’s freedom for myself. Let’s choose to really live in that freedom and to share what God’s love has done for us in all the things we do, in what we say and the forgiveness we offer. Let love mark our actions this week and point others to the amazing freedom found in the love of Christ.
