Read John 5:41-47 NIV
“I do not accept glory from human beings, but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?
“But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set. If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?”
Jesus Healing on the Sabbath Reading
“The Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” — Mark 2:28
The Sabbath is not about restriction but about the Lord’s authority over time, rest, and healing. He reigns over every area of our lives. Are you willing to trust His timing and His lordship?
”So, I’m glad I’ve escaped, that I have escaped from the laws of the elders (by this Tozer means those like the Pharisees). But we must pray for those who haven’t. And we must by love and faith and grace and careful walk, not to offend people. We must live such lives as shall be worthy of the liberty we claim to hold and not use liberty as a license for the flesh. But in meekness and humility, follow our Lord Jesus Christ. If we do that, God will bless us and we may be used by Him to deliver some who are now in bondage.” A.W. Tozer from his sermon “Inspiration of God’s Word Versus Tradition”
Reflection Questions:
What would it look like to approach every day as an opportunity for His healing power?
Do I truly trust Jesus’ authority over every part of my life, including timing and healing?
How can I surrender my desire for control and rest in His lordship this week?
