John 11:40 Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”
41 So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.”
Jesus prayed out loud in the presence of others so that we, too, would believe.
Jesus’ Teaching on Prayer
Luke 11 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
2 He said to them, “When you pray, say:“‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. 3 Give us each day our daily bread. 4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.
Jesus prayed to teach us how to pray.
I believe in the power of prayer! I believe there is no wrong way to pray, but I am thankful that Jesus has given us the Lord’s prayer for times when we just don’t know what to say and want to talk to God. This is a great conversation starter so to speak. We begin by acknowledging and honoring Him and His kingdom. We trust in His provisions. We ask for forgiveness and to help us offer forgiveness to others. We seek His protection. We rely on the gift of the Holy Spirit that intercedes on our behalf.
