Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”
Have you ever felt like giving up? Maybe you have done all that you know how to do and still you feel unable to move forward. Maybe the opposition was so great that you felt crushed and powerless. Maybe you are feeling that way right now. Today’s verse is a little gem I found once when I felt that way.
This verse takes us to the account of King Jehoshaphat. Three armies had joined forces against him with the intent to destroy Israel. Jehoshaphat was beginning to feel like things were quickly spiraling out of his control. Israel was in serious trouble and I would bet they felt ready to give up. The situation seemed hopeless. Jehoshaphat gathered everyone together and asked them to pray and fast. By Jehoshaphat’s own admission, they didn’t know what to do! They had no answer to the problem that they were facing. They only knew to seek God in it. They had faith that God would provide an answer and they surrendered everything to Him. They didn’t give up and God did provide a victory. They were able to press through the difficulty by God’s power alone.
We all have moments when we have no clue what to do. Life is hard sometimes and our struggles are all too real, but there is power when we look to the right source for help. Is there something in your life right now that you need to admit to God that you don’t know what to do? Change what you choose to look at. Focus on God and not on the problem. Don’t give up, instead, trust in His power to press through the difficulty.
