You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
I remember being a kid and thinking my dad was the absolute best! In my eyes he was the biggest, the strongest, the smartest, and the most handsome! He had a pocket full of treasures and gadgets that could solve almost any problem and as long as we were together, hand in hand… well, there wasn’t anything I couldn’t do! I still think my dad is pretty great, but I have come to understand that he is human. And while I still would love to believe that with his hand in mine I am pretty much unstoppable, I realize that we both have limitations.
But today’s verse reminds me that I have a Heavenly Father too – and with Him… well there are no limitations! His love for me is bigger, and stronger, and wiser than I can even imagine. And that goes for you too! His promise is to go with us wherever we go and to be the strength that we need to carry us through whatever we face. In other words, hand in hand, there REALLY is nothing you can’t do… “because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world!”
