We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ,
I like a well thought out plan! It helps me to prioritize and think through all that is needed in order for whatever I am working on to be as successful as it can. A plan helps me see and articulate the true purpose in the task. It also gives me reassurance when things don’t go exactly as I planned – because even though things may not go exactly as I plan it reminds me of where I am going and gives me places to fall back to, to start again.
That’s why I love this verse. It’s a bold action plan for personal victory over sin and the schemes of Satan. Do you have a plan for personal victory? Maybe this is one you can adopt this week. Instead of passively avoiding or ignoring the things that tend to trip us up, let’s plan to destroy those lies we get fed by the world and obliterate the pride that keeps us from experiencing the fullness of God. When life throws us a curveball and doubt and fear want to claim ground in our lives that is not theirs to own – let’s remember that we hold the power, through Jesus, to submit every thought and every action to living in direct response and obedience to what Christ has done for us.
