Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ
There are so many things that occupy our brain space every day. Kids, jobs, homes, bills, family, friends, retirement, school… the list could go on and on. If we aren’t careful, it could be easy to let our priorities slip, allowing any of these things to demand our attention at any given time, taking precedence over everything else including our relationship with Christ. Here’s the thing – God knows we live, we have responsibilities, hopes and dreams. All of those things are gifts from God to us. But what He wants is for our relationship with Him to be the most important thing to us and to impact everything else…not the other way around. If we don’t have Jesus at the core of who we are, what we do with the rest of it doesn’t really matter – it will always fall short of what it could be with Jesus.
