Read James 1:21 NLT
So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.
Read Psalm 51:9-10 NIrV
Take away all my sins.
Wipe away all the evil things I’ve done.
God, create a pure heart in me.
Give me a new spirit that is faithful to you.
Last month I saw all kinds of challenges posted on Facebook to rid your home of 1 bag of junk every day for 30 days. It’s a pretty good practice to keep your home decluttered, making room and space both literally and figuratively to really live. The idea is that we get bogged down in the junk and getting rid of it frees us.
The same is true of the junk in our lives – better known as sin. Sin effectively clutters up our lives and keeps us from really hearing from God and following where he leads. It trips us up and keeps us stuck. It robs us of the joy and the journey God has for us.
Take some time today to examine your heart and take stock of the sin that clutters up the corners of your life. Spend time in prayer asking for forgiveness and release from sin’s hold on your life so that you can hear God’s voice and begin to really live.
