Read John 3:16-17 NIV
Jesus’s ultimate display of love
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
The cornerstone of the Gospel is the fact that God loved us so much that He GAVE. We do not need to give to Him first in order to receive. He sets the tone by giving us more than we could ever give to Him. His gift is one marked by a generous love.
After the recognition and acceptance of God’s great gift of grace by faith, we are then given the charge by God to love others. The love that God has given to us is not meant to be held onto too tightly . We are not supposed to hoard what we have received. But we are also to give generously out of the abundance of love He has poured out on us.
What can you learn from Jesus’ example in this passage? What can you take away from this account that can or maybe should, shape the way you love others?
