Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.
There have been many times in my life when the season I find myself in has left me bone tired. But not just the “I could use a long nap” kind of tired. The depleted, dry, dusty, defeated, “I’ve got nothing left” kind of tired. In those moments I long for relief; to shake the heavy feeling from my shoulders and finally be free. Something has to give or I might just break.
In one of those seasons not too long ago, God gently showed me that maybe the thing that needed to “give” was me. We humans are pretty stubborn creatures at times. So often we struggle and strive to be our own kind of savior. Our perspective gets warped and so we opt for solutions dependent on the success and strength of our own making and in doing so we show God to a seat somewhere in the back of the room.
God is calling us to turn away from that way of thinking. He wants us to leave behind that self-important, selfish way of thinking and surrender our hearts and our minds – our entire way of living – to His leading and direction. When we do that we allow God to move in mighty ways in our lives, lifting the heaviness from our hearts, reviving and restoring us.
