Read Isaiah 43:19 NLT

For I am about to do something new.

See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?

I will make a pathway through the wilderness.

I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

I love a good summer rain. I love the way it sounds, the way it feels on hot summer afternoons, and I love the way it refreshes my plants and vegetable garden. There have been years when I thought my garden was doing pretty well. Flowers bloomed and vegetables grew. But then a rain would come…and oh the difference! The plants looked healthier than before and the yield from my vegetable garden would double. Sometimes I wasn’t even aware of my garden’s need for revival from a good, soaking rain – but the difference is unmistakable!

As humans, we get that way too. We go about our lives – day in…day out. We keep busy. Good things happen and life seems to be moving in the right direction.  But what if there is more? What if what we have settled for in life is just a fraction of the goodness God has intended for us…and we don’t even see it?

God doesn’t just want you to exist. He wants you to flourish. Much like the rain revives my garden, He longs to rain His Holy Spirit down over you bringing life where you didn’t even know you needed it, so that you might experience this life on Earth in new and unbelievable ways.

I didn’t tell you my favorite part about summer rain earlier. My favorite part is the way it smells just before those first drops of rain hit the ground. I think I love that smell so much because it triggers my memory. I can instantly anticipate what is coming. I know the good it will do. I want you to read back over the verse for today and think of the words as that first hint of summer rain floating in on the breeze. Are you ready for what He wants to do in you? No need for an umbrella today…let it rain!
