In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
From the very beginning, God had a plan. His first order of business was to create Heaven and Earth. Dwelling places. One dwelling place would be home to our imperfect earthly bodies, where physical bodies would grow and mature, but eventually fail us. And one dwelling place was meant to be home for our innermost beings – our souls and eternal bodies that do not wear out.
Most of us probably feel like we have a pretty good handle on the Earth part of God’s creation. After all, it is what we currently call home. We can see it, we can feel it, we experience it everyday. Even in the constant changes we see and face in our world, there is a bit of familiarity that we find in the day to day of simply living in this place. But what about heaven? God’s Word says it’s real, but how do we know for sure? What’s it like? Who gets to go there? And just how do you get there?
This week we will explore Scripture with these questions in mind. Let’s take today and pray and ask God to reveal Himself through His Word, to give us clarity and understanding of His plan and His love for us as His creation.
God, thank You that You have had a plan from the very beginning. Even as we begin to wrestle now with hard questions, You know exactly what we need and we are thankful for that. We ask that You reveal Yourself to us through Your Word as we seek to know You more. Give us wisdom and clarity that provides us peace and hope and leads us in the path You have planned out for us. Thank You for Your great love that makes a way! Amen.
