Read: Psalm 63:3 “Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you!”.
David didn’t praise God because his circumstances were easy. He praised Him because God’s love had proven faithful in every season. He realized that God’s love remained steady and true during every twist and turn of his life.
It almost seems as if David referred back to his “highlight reel” of blessings, or maybe even his “gratitude journal” to help him remember how good God’s love is. David’s circumstances at the time when he wrote Psalm 63 were pretty grim. He was lonely, isolated, and probably a bit scared. Yet, despite all of that, he was able to recall the love of God and praise Him! I imagine him remembering all the ways God had blessed him through the years, and it was because of this remembering that he could praise Him in the wilderness!
The wilderness may feel like an interruption, but God sees it as preparation. The places that seem barren often become the places where our faith takes root. Remembering God’s blessings and faithfulness helps to prepare our hearts for our wilderness moments!
Reflection: Where have I seen God’s faithfulness in difficult seasons before?
Prayer: Father, help me to remember Your blessings and Your faithfulness so my heart can be prepared for my wilderness sessions. May I be strengthened and prepared for every season and praise You always!
