When I think of the milestones in my life, and I hate to admit it but there are many, one stands out above the rest. On May 12th, 2017 my father stepped from this life into the next. I know it may seem as if that is a sad milestone moment, but strangely it wasn’t for me. I love my Dad, and I miss him greatly. At 94 my father’s health had declined and he was ready. What stands out to me is the impact he had on my life. He gave me the greatest gift in that he didn’t repeat to me what he had done to him by his father. He could have, others have, but when he gave his life to Jesus, that all changed for him. Instead of being angry, abusive, selfish, and filled with hate, My dad, with God’s help was kind, patient, generous, and filled with love. The verse that comes to mind is found in 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT. This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
