Read Philippians 4:4-7 NLT

“Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!  Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.  Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

I don’t know about you, but the times I feel furthest from the Lord is when I take my mind and focus off of the Lord to look at what’s going on around me. When I look at my circumstances or the state of the world around me I can get overwhelmed. I lose the peace and joy that the Lord has gifted to me.

It’s in those moments that the Lord gently reminds me to fill my questioning heart and mind with worship; to choose to do the opposite of what I feel and to choose to worship Him in the void. There is power in choosing to do what our spirit says instead of following our feelings to do what our flesh desires.

Worrying can’t change a situation, but worship and prayer can.
