Read Acts 12:1-17
Main Verses: Acts 12:5-7 “So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. ‘Quick, get up!’ he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.”
Life often seems like a 10,000-piece puzzle. There are a lot of pieces! To make sense of it all, we try to group pieces together by shape and color while trying combinations of pieces to find the ones that fit together. Sometimes the pieces go together easily and other times we search and search only to find that there might be pieces missing. It is pretty common to discover missing pieces in puzzles, but it’s also pretty common to feel like there are missing pieces in life.
We all have areas of our lives that don’t seem to work right. What is your response when the pieces of your life don’t fit just right? Do you get angry? Do you quit? Do you pray?
Prayer isn’t always our first response, but there is tremendous power in prayer.
Peter was in prison, likely facing a death sentence. So, things weren’t exactly going his way! The believers saw that the pieces weren’t fitting and they began to pray. They lifted their prayers to God and He showed up in a mighty way. Their request prompted a divine response.
Our prayers are powerful and are sometimes the avenue God uses for a miracle! Is there something that doesn’t fit or a piece that seems to be missing in your life or the life of someone else? Seek God in prayer and believe that He can and will show up in a mighty way.
