James 1:6 NIV “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”

Mark 9:24 NIV “I do believe, help me overcome my unbelief.”

There are times in life when our fears and thoughts cause us to doubt.   When my youngest daughter had just turned a year old, we were having a relaxing lunch on our back porch, when all of the sudden, she began having a seizure.  At the time, we had no idea it was a seizure.  We were eating lunch, so we assumed she was choking and began doing everything we knew to do to dislodge whatever was blocking her airway.   She turned gray and was lifeless and we were utterly terrified.  My husband had taken her outside in the cool grass as we waited for the ambulance.  I was screaming and literally lost it when all of the sudden, my husband screamed at me to pray!  I instantly fell onto the ground and cried out to God in prayer.  My heart and mind were transformed into a state of unexplainable peace and trust as I prayed without words.  I simply uttered my limp, heart wrenching requests to God and I believed with every fiber of my being that she would be ok.  Next thing, I knew, our daughter was perking up and began to whimper.  Praise God!   We knew with 100% certainty that she would be just fine.  We went from total unbelief and doubt, fear and terror – to praise and solid belief.  This experience has been a milestone in my prayer life journey and transformation.  I now pray to ask God to help me with my unbelief whenever it rises up.  Doubts are a natural part of our human experience.  But God wants us to turn our unbelief into belief, to turn our doubts into trust.  Today, bring your doubts and any unbelief that you may have and ask God to help you release it.  Allow the Holy Spirit to help you let go of your unbelief and allow your faith to grow!
