Job 38:4-7

“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?

Tell me, if you understand.

Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!

Who stretched a measuring line across it?

On what were its footings set,

or who laid its cornerstone—

while the morning stars sang together

and all the angels shouted for joy?

Revelation 5:11-12

Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they were saying:

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,

to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength

and honor and glory and praise!”

Yesterday we reflected a little on the fact of angels being created by God and on one aspect of their purpose which is to serve. There are many places in Scripture where another purpose and role for angels is revealed. We learn in the Book of Job, the angels were singing together and shouting for joy at the beginning of all things as God continued to bring forth His creation. In Revelation we see angels by the thousands in heaven leading the praise of Jesus, the Lamb who was slain. I can only imagine what a beautiful sound the voices of angels make as they worship. From the beginning of their existence on into eternity, angels have been and will be praising our awesome Savior. As we worship here on earth, they are in heaven joining in unity with us to lift high His name. One day, we will have the privilege to stand beside the angels in person, praising and worshiping God together. Now won’t that be a great day!

 Pray:

Lord, may we learn from Your angels to always worship You for all that You are and all that You do. You truly are worthy to receive honor and glory and praise. We look forward, with thankful anticipation, to the day we get to be in the company of the angels worshiping in Your presence. We thank You for their example and for the privilege to join our voices with theirs both here on earth and one day in heaven when we too will shout for joy! Amen!
