Read Revelation 22:1-6 NLT

1Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations.

3 No longer will there be a curse upon anything. For the throne of God and of the Lamb will be there, and his servants will worship him. 4 And they will see his face, and his name will be written on their foreheads. 5 And there will be no night there—no need for lamps or sun—for the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever.

6 Then the angel said to me, “Everything you have heard and seen is trustworthy and true. The Lord God, who inspires his prophets, has sent his angel to tell his servants what will happen soon.”

The glimpses we get of heaven in Scripture make it feel like a somewhat unbelievable place – full of amazing and wonderful things, unlike anything we have seen before. So, I love that God makes it known that all John (the writer of Revelation) sees and hears is trustworthy and true. As humans we cannot possibly understand all that God has planned in the future, but how wonderful it is to know that He cares enough to give us glimpses of what is to come. A reminder that He is still in control and the end of days are in His capable hands.

God, thank You that You love us so much that You would send us little love notes in Scripture to give us a snapshot of the outpouring of Your love in heaven. Thank You that we can trust You and take You at Your word. Lord, we cannot wait to see You face to face and for it to be undeniably known that we belong to You. We thank You for Your provision here on earth and in heaven. We wait in eager anticipation for Your return. Amen.
