Read 1 Corinthians 13:7 NIV

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

ESV Translation

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

NLT Translation

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Some of the best marriage advice I have ever received is to always expect or think the best of my spouse.  When I do that, I can trust that they love me and  I can trust that their actions aren’t meant to purposefully hurt me, even when they do something that I don’t agree with.  This is really good advice for most relationships.  Expecting the best of someone is a great way to build trust in your relationship.

What are your expectations of God?  Do you expect the best of God or do you pray and then spend the rest of your day unsure and hoping that He has heard your prayer?

Expecting the best of God is all about faith.  Faith is the confident assurance that God is in control of the future and that He plans what is best for our lives because He loves us.  We know that God can do anything because of His Word.  Each time we trust Him and expect Him to do what’s best for us, our faith grows.

That doesn’t mean that He will always do what we want, but we can be sure that God will act on what is best for us.  Today, focus on your faith and trust in God to spill over into your other relationships – knowing that you can trust Him for those too, making it easier to believe the best about others because He has it all under control.
