And yet I will show you a still more excellent way [one of the choicest graces and the highest of them all: unselfish love].
Love is a more excellent way. Some of you might be asking, “A more excellent way of what?” Well… everything…but especially expressing our faith in Jesus. It sounds so simple that it can’t be possible. But let’s think about this for a minute. If you have a conflict with another person and you approach it with more love than frustration or anger, how is it going to go? Probably better than it would have had love not been a focus in resolving the conflict. Or how about this: You see a need in your community. Stepping in is just the right thing to do. But add the perspective of Christ’s unselfish love into the mix and it changes things. When your focus is love, however you decide to act becomes less about the action itself and more about why you act in the first place. It isn’t about doing what is right. It’s about sharing God’s love and putting our faith into action.
