Read Genesis 2:24 KJV
“ Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”
A milestone is a stone set up beside a road to mark the distance in miles to a particular place. A milestone in my life was when my husband and I bought our first home. We already had two children and one more on the way. But, we were still young in our marriage and up until that point, had not really learned to cleave to each other.
Cleave in the Bible means to adhere to. This means to glue to, join, and stick together. The Hebrew word used in Genesis also means to abide fast together or to follow.
We learned to cling to God and each other through the ups and downs of homeownership, family situations, children with food allergies, and our own sickness, and health. Ultimately, the season of learning to cleave to each other even led us to Cross Creek.
Becoming homeowners was just one of many milestones that came from that season, but ultimately it made our marriage stronger, restored trust, strengthened our faith, and led to a place where I would follow God and my husband wherever they lead me.
