Daily Devotionals

July 26th, 2025

Each week of devotions throughout our Live Worthy series on Ephesians will be spent on a single chapter.  We encourage you to re-read the chapter each day. Additionally, we will focus on a few key verses each day. This week, we will focus on chapter 2 of Ephesians

Read: Ephesians 2

Read: Ephesians 2:11-22, selected verses “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ… Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”

This final section of the chapter speaks to the dismantling of barriers—specifically between Jew and Gentile, but broadly applicable to all divisions that separate humanity. Through Christ’s sacrifice, “you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” We are no longer outsiders but “fellow citizens” and “members of his household,” part of God’s holy temple, a dwelling place for His Spirit. How does the “blood of Christ” bring you near to God and to other believers? What does it mean to be part of “God’s household” and a “holy temple” where God lives by His Spirit?

Pray: Redeemer Lord, we are profoundly grateful that through your blood, we who were far away have been brought near. Thank you for tearing down the walls of division and making us fellow citizens and members of your household. Continue to build us together into a holy temple, a dwelling place for your Spirit, that your presence may be glorified in and through us. Amen.
