Each week of devotions throughout our Live Worthy series on Ephesians will be spent on a single chapter. We encourage you to re-read the chapter each day. Additionally, we will focus on a few key verses each day. This week, we will focus on chapter 2 of Ephesians
Read: Ephesians 2
Read: Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
This is a crucial verse for understanding our purpose. We are not saved by good works, but for good works. The Greek word for “handiwork” is poiēma, from which we get “poem” or “masterpiece.” We are God’s beautifully crafted creations, redeemed and reshaped in Christ Jesus for a divine purpose: “to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” How does knowing you are God’s “masterpiece” impact your self-worth? What “good works” do you believe God has prepared for you?
Pray: Creator God, thank you for making us your handiwork, uniquely designed and created in Christ Jesus. We praise you that you have purposed us for good works, which you prepared for us to do. Open our eyes to see these opportunities and empower us by your Spirit to walk in them, for your glory. Amen.
