When I think of all the milestones in my life the one that stands out to me is when I had my first child. It’s amazing how much your life changes so quickly. One day you are living for yourself and the next you are giving up everything to take care of a little baby. Of course, that has ebbed and flowed as my children have grown and my family has expanded. But I look back to that time of my life and realize I have learned so much from becoming a mother.
Not only have I learned more than ever about how to put someone else’s needs above my own, but I have also learned humility. I’m the kind of person who loves to know what’s going to happen next and have a clear plan. But kids have a way of throwing what you had in mind or how you think things should go out the window… and that’s not always a bad thing!
I see this in my relationship with God. Often I am so stuck in my plan and idea for how my life should be that I miss God speaking to me and His direction for my life. Through my parenting journey, I have learned more than ever to put all my trust and all my plans and ideas in God’s hands and to just enjoy the ride.
Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
