Each week of devotions throughout our Live Worthy series on Ephesians will be spent on a single chapter. We encourage you to re-read the chapter each day. Additionally, we will focus on a few key verses each day. This week, we will focus on chapter 1 of Ephesians
Read Ephesians 1
Focus Verses: Ephesians 1:22-23 NLT
God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.
We live in a world that is incredibly politically charged. Everywhere you look, someone is frustrated at either an overreach of government or a government that sits idly by. With so much conflict and dissension, it is often hard to see how any of it, on either side of the coin, is beneficial or to know who can be trusted.
Jesus’ leadership and authority stand in complete opposition to many of the leaders and authorities of our world. Today’s verses remind us that Jesus has been given authority over everything and that we can trust that all He does is for the benefit of the church …the people God loves …us! His purpose is to unite us as one through His sacrifice so that we might live as we were truly designed to live through Him. What a beautiful and loving plan God has for his creation!
God,
Thank You for Your leadership and Your loving authority. Thank You for Your desire to unite us in your family so that we might live in the fullness of Your love. We are grateful for the way we can trust Your leadership. Help us to lean into Your authority and to live in the freedom that comes from being connected to You. Amen.
